It seems that Seagate has sorted the cache issues of its 1TB drive in the transition up the larger capacity, with the cache delivering a very fast burst speed of 248.8 MB/s, making it the fastest cache on a mechanical hard drive we've yet to test - impressive stuff!

The average read across the disk is just as impressive, with a 13.7 MB/s advantage over the Samsung Spinpoint F1 1TB, making the Seagate 1.5TB the fastest mechanical drive we've ever tested, at least in these theoretical tests.

m/s - less is better
Sadly though the Seagate 1.5TB's response time is a little disappointing at 15m/s - 2.5m/s slower than the Samsung. While this might seem like a very small difference, it will add up when accessing very large groups of smaller files.
